News: Taiwanese electronics firm Asus introduced its range of mobile PCs in the Nigerian market in partnership with Neptech. Asus intends to cover all market segments in Nigeria and has a suitable product portfolio that will cater to the needs of all consumers, said Simplice Zaongo, ASUSTek's country product manager for West Africa. The firm also revealed plans to set up a Asus pre-sales office for Nigeria by Q412. The firm will aim for many channels, including computer shops, computer and electronic shops and IT shops, added Zaongo.
BMI View: The launch of mobile PCs will enable Asus to offer advanced mobile services in Nigeria. BMI estimates there will be 103.8mn mobile subscribers in 2012 and expects the total to rise 25.6% by 2016 to 130.4mn. During this period penetration will rise from 62.3% to 70.7%.
