Afghanistan Suffers Mining Industry Setbacks

News: Afghanistan ' s mining industry is reported to have been hit by cutbacks from Chinese and Indian investors following the fall in commodity prices, Mineweb reports. A CNY 26.9bn (US$4.4bn) deal with Chinese mining companies Metallurgical Corporation of China and Jiangxi Copper Corporation is thought to be on the verge of collapse, whil e Indian group Afghan Iron and Steel Consortium is reported t o be scaling back its steel production developments in the country.
