News: Puerto Rico's energy regulator, the Autoridad de Energía Eléctrica (AEE) has renegotiated cheaper power purchase agreements (PPAs) with six firms for construction of large-scale photovoltaic plants in the country and to drive down power prices, according to a statement issued by the AEE. The regulator is reportedly close to signing the agreement with a seventh firm. The renegotiated PPAs would save the AEE a total of US$60mn, the AEE has said. The projects will add to the country's objective of deploying 600MW of renewable energy generation by end 2015. Together they are likely to expand the country's total existing renewable energy capacity to 375MW, the AEE added.
