News: A1, a subsidiary of Austrian incumbent Telekom Austria, claims it has deployed the largest LTE network in the country. This claim is based on an independent audit by Systemics-PAB. The firm invested heavily in its 3G network, allowing transmission speeds of up to 42Mbps based on the HSPA+ Dual Cell technology and covering around 70% of the country's population, said the CEO of Telekom Austria, Hannes Ametsreiter. The operator also aims to offer ultrafast data technology to more than one-quarter of the country's population by end-2012, added Ametsreiter.
BMI View: Telekom Austria is the incumbent telecoms operator in Austria, providing fixed-line telephony (local, long-distance and international), data and value-added communications, internet access and mobile communications services nationwide.
