Richard Hall - CEO, BMI Research
Richard was appointed in June 2014 following the acquisition of Business Monitor International (now BMI Research) by the Fitch Group. Under his leadership BMI Research is poised for a new period of global growth which will benefit clients and contribute to Fitch’s preeminence in financial and business information services. Before joining BMI, Richard spent eight years as COO at Mergermarket Limited where he created and launched Debtwire and dealReporter prior to its sale to Pearson Plc and earnout period. More recently, he was COO of WorldOne Limited where he played a key role in transforming the company from an entrepreneurial business to one poised for future growth. He is currently Non-executive Chairman of Cognolink Limited. Richard has an MA in Economics from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from INSEAD.
Simon Longfield - CFO, BMI Research
Simon joined BMI as CFO in 2009 shortly after investment by Spectrum, a US based private equity investor. He was responsible for building BMI’s finance team and developing the company’s systems and financial reporting. He managed the sale process for BMI out of private equity ownership to Fitch Group in March 2014. Prior to BMI, he was CFO of an AIM listed resort development group, where he was responsible for setting up group wide financial processes and implementing IFRS accounting. Additionally he led the raising of $15m in debt from a London based hedge fund. Previously, he had 18 years' experience up to director level at PwC including international experience from a two year transfer to Melbourne and on overseas assignments relating to his specialism in telecoms and technology companies. His experience at PwC included audit, IFRS accounting, due diligence and corporate finance for medium sized to listed company clients.
Terence Alexander - COO, BMI Research
Terry is directly responsible for the day to day running of the Sales, Inside Sales and Research operations. Terry joined BMI in 2000, heading up the Country Risk and Capital Markets team until 2010, at which point he took charge of a unified Research Department including both Industry Sectors and Country Risk analysis. Terry managed a team of over 90 analysts in London, Singapore and New York and was responsible for the quality and coherence of BMI's macroeconomic forecasts, capital markets strategy and industry sectors analysis across 195 countries. Terry has also spent time running both the NY and APAC sales teams in addition to his Head of Research duties. In 2015, he was promoted to COO. Prior to joining BMI, Terry spent 12 years as a senior foreign exchange and interest rate trader at Phibro-Salomon Brothers, AIG and Bank of Nova Scotia. Terry graduated from Exeter University with a BA in French with Economics, and holds a diploma in the technical analysis of financial markets from the City University.
Diane Milliard - Global Head of HR & Recruitment, BMI Research
Since Di joined BMI in 2011 as Head of HR, she has built and executed a complete transformational change in the business, focussing on policy and compliance through to the design and implementation of leadership development programmes, including managing an acquisition through to full business integration. Prior to joining BMI, Di worked at Fujitsu Services as Senior HR Business Partner managing a team of 120 Sales specialists together with the Sales Director. Alongside this role, Di was the people development Manager for the Private Sector Division comprising of over 400 employees. Di also has extensive recruitment outsourcing experience managing an £18 million pound business with a workforce of over 1200 heads nationally for Adecco Recruitment. Di holds a post graduate degree in Human Resources and is CIPD qualified. She also has an MBA coaching qualification.
Gregory Roth - Global Head of Communications, BMI Research
Gregory joined BMI in 2014 as Head of Communications managing all media relations, communications and branding. Gregory has formerly worked for J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where he led media relations for the firm’s institutional business and its retirement group. Gregory’s experience in communications draws heavily from his background as a financial reporter and editor, most recently at Reuters where he was a senior editor and correspondent covering private equity. Prior to Reuters, Gregory held various editorial positions at The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and CNBC. He also served in senior communications roles at the Financial Times and McGraw-Hill. Originally from Los Angeles, Gregory graduated with an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, an M.S. from Columbia’s Journalism School and a B.A. from Duke University.
Jon Ewing - Chief Marketing & Technology Officer, BMI Research
Jon joined BMI in our London office in October 2014 as joint CTO & CMO. He looks after a combined team of 40 people in three countries, and is continuing to grow the team internationally. Prior to joining BMI, Jon was Personalisation Director at dunnhumby, where he spent two years working on the Tesco account amongst other roles. Jon’s background is in IT, starting his career as a software developer & working his way up to running the R&D department for Mediasurface. He spent nearly three years in India setting up and running an off-shore development centre.
Lyndsey Anderson - Global Head of Research, BMI Research
Lyndsey joined BMI in June 2005, as an analyst in our Consumer industries team, going on to head up that department before assuming a broader role managing all of BMI’s Industry analysis. As Head of Global Research, Lyndsey works with our regional research heads to tie together our macroeconomic and financial market views with our industry and company views, to inform our regional and global strategy. Prior to joining BMI, Lyndsey worked for a boutique consumer research house. Lyndsey holds a degree in Politics from the University of East Anglia.
Matthew Brooks - Head of Strategic Analysis & Product Development, BMI Research
Matthew joined BMI as an analyst in the Middle East & Africa team in 2000, prior to which he was Head of Research at a boutique Country Risk research house. In his early years at BMI, he led first the Africa & Middle East, and then the Country Risk team. After launching our industry services in 2003, Matthew moved to and then managed the Industry team until 2010, when he assumed his current role. He has responsibility for the content roadmap and BMI’s flagship online platform, Business Monitor Online, and also conducts business analysis of BMI, the company’s competitors / peers, and potential acquisition opportunities. Matthew holds MA hons (Cantab) and M. Phil degrees from the University of Cambridge.
