Microsoft's Mobile Future?

Microsoft's purchase of Nokia's mobile phone division signifies that the software giant is continuing its headlong rush into the mobile technology market. Existing Windows Phones have failed to capture consumers' imaginations, however, and BMI believes that Microsoft will struggle to capture significant market share from Google's dominant Android operating system. Even so, the buyout represents a significant shift in the global mobile phone market, making Microsoft a key hardware player in many emerging markets.
