Free Webinar on 4 March 2014 - Pivotal States: Key countries facing defining moments in 2014
One way of gauging global political stability is by assessing the political and economic conditions in countries that play crucial roles in their respective regions.
We call these countries pivotal states.
Join us on 4 March 2014 (14:00-14:45 GMT) as we explore our pivotal states - 14 middle-ranked countries where any transformation in their system of government could have a profound and lasting impact on their region, and the wider world. Pivotal states draw their importance from a combination of their large populations, economic influence, military power, key geographical location, cultural reach, or commodity resources.
Our pivotal states are Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Korea (North and South), Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, and Ukraine.
Many of these countries are major emerging markets, passing through significant phases that will determine their fates during 2014. During the webinar we will:
- Explore recent developments in several of these states and draw out their implications
- Provide an international context to local developments
- Address the long-term political prospects
