Trials On LNG-Powered Vessel Commences
News: Test trials on a liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered cargo carrier have commenced near the Chinese port of Zhangjiangang (Xinhua). The vessel, which is the first of its kind in the world, is one of the two LNG-powered vessels ordered by Norwegian shipping company Nor Lines. The company is likely to receive the 5,000-deadweight-tonne first carrier in June. The LNG-powered vessels are focused on reducing environment pollution from sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxide and CO2 in emissions as compared to diesel-fuelled carriers.
