Seaport Terminal To Position Penang To Serve China, India
News: A study into the Malaysian Port of Penang has confirmed that the facility cannot compete with the three other major container ports in the Malacca Straits, reports Seatrade Asia Online. The announcement was made by Mohd Sidik Shaik Osman, the director of Seaport Terminal, the company which won a bid to privatise the port. The Penang Port will now be positioned to serve eastern and western routes to China and India respectively, Osman added. The company might also attempt to upgrade the port to compete with Port Klang and Luang Prabang Port.
