Ophir Spuds Mlinzi Mbali-1 Well In Block 7

News: UK-based Ophir Energy has started spudding the Mlinzi Mbali-1 well in Tanzania's Block 7. The well is being drilled using the Deepsea Metro I drillship and is targeting a structural crest within a Lower Cretaceous channel complex, with secondary targets in the Upper Cretaceous and the Jurassic. The well is being drilled to a water depth of 2,600 metres (m), with a planned total depth of 5,650m. The operations are expected to be completed in 50 days. Ophir Energy holds an 80% stake in the Mlinzi Mbali-1 well.
