MPT Enters Partnership With KDDI

News: State-owned telecoms provider Myanmar Post and Telecommunication (MPT) will enter into a partnership with Japanese telecoms operator KDDI by the end of May 2014. Under the deal, KDDI will take control of MPT's routine operations. The procedure has been delayed for several months as numerous legal procedures are required to negotiate with the MPT, since it is a state-owned firm, according to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The MPT has been seeking a foreign firm to manage its business in the run-up of the entry of two new overseas players that would launch their mobile networks later in 2014.
