Ministry, Sembcorp Sign MoU For 1,200MW Power Project

News: Singapore-based Sembcorp and Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade on September 11 2013 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly develop the Dung Quat thermo power plant project on build-operate-transfer basis in the Vietnamese province of Qu?ng Ngãi. In May 2013, the government assigned Sembcorp to be the investor of the project. The plant, which is expected to generate about 7bn kWh annually, has a capacity of 1,200MW, with two turbines of 600MW each. The power plant is expected to start the commercial operations of its first turbine in September 2020, with the entire plant scheduled for March 2021.
