Ministry Launches JOD4mn Water Project

News: Jordan's Ministry of Water and Irrigation has launched a JOD4mn (US$5.63mn) project to renovate and restructure water networks in the Madaba Governorate. The project is intended to improve water supply in the city of Madaba, which has water per capita of 133 cu metres. The ministry signed an agreement with an unnamed local contractor on December 25 2013. 'Under the agreement, the contractor will extend over 50-km-long water conveyors and pipelines and establish 1,370 new tertiary pipes', reports The Jordan Times, citing Water Minister Hazem Nasser (Zawya). The project also includes improvement of the governorate's reservoir station and installation of new pumps. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2015.
