Halifax Port’s Cargo Tonnage Up 14.7% In Q113

News: The Canadian Port of Halifax registered a 14.7% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase in cargo tonnage in Q113. Bulk cargo rose by 5.5% y-o-y, while general cargo climbed 3%. The port's capacity to handle bulk cargo will increase by late 2014, following completion of a US$73mn revamp of the Richmond Terminal. Halifax posted a 26.3% y-o-y jump in containerised cargo, to 112,670 containers, in Q113. A total of 134 vessels with around 252,847 passengers called at the port in 2012.
