Government Plans To Increase Steel Output To 55mn Tonnes
News: The Iranian government is planning to increase its annual steel output to 55mn tonnes by the end of its Fifth Five-Year Development Plan in 2015. Iran's crude steel production increased by 6% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 14.07mn tonnes in January-November 2013, according to a World Steel Association press release. Additionally, the country's crude steel output increased by 12.5% y-o-y to 1.38mn in November 2013. The government has also lifted restrictions on exports of steel products till June 21 2013, with an aim of encouraging and supporting domestic producers.
