Deputy Health Minister Calls For Action Against Influx Of Fake Drugs
News:The Ghanaian Deputy Health Minister Rojo Mettle-Nunoo has expressed concern over the influx of fake drugs in the country. Mettle-Nunoo, who was speaking at the annual general meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), urged the authorities to take appropriate measures to curb entry of fake medicines in Ghana through the Aflao Station in Accra for sake of overall health status of its people. The minister also identified the unscrupulous practice of re-labelling and selling expired drugs in the country by some drug dispensers and pharmacies, including the sale of antibiotics to general public without prescription. Ghanaian pharmacists were asked by Mettle-Nunoo to practise professional conduct and follow approved drug management guidelines to help deal with challenges in healthcare and its delivery.
