News: Traditional therapies will be offered to nearly 30% of children and elderly people in China in 2013, reports Xinhua, citing Wang Lian, the director of the general office of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The initiative is part of the public healthcare service. Health counselling based on traditional therapies will be provided to senior citizens aged over 65 and children aged below 36 months by doctors in community health centres and village clinics, Lian said. Additionally, Lian stated that health departments will offer training to more workers at the grassroots level and promote therapies that can be applied easily, aiming to extend public access to traditional medicine.
