Carbonated Soft Drinks Looking Promising
Pakistan's soft drinks industry, particularly the carbonates segment, is expected to grow strongly over our forecast period. To 2016, we expect carbonates volume sales to grow at a compound annual rate of 3.1%, with per capita consumption growing to about 12 litres. Relatively low per capita consumption will leave a lot of room for growth as incomes steadily rise .
PepsiCo and The Coca-Cola Company 's franchise bottler in Pakistan , Coca-Cola Pakistan (CCP) , are expected to invest heavily in the country over the next few years. Pepsi has a number of franchise partners in Pakistan that manufacture its flagship products. I ts Pakistan business is predominately based around soft drinks, although more recently it has been investing into snacks, which is of course a major part of its global business. Indeed, s ome of its snacks are now manufactured in Pakistan. Turkey-based Coca-Cola Icecek acquired a 49% stake in CCP in 2008 and sees Pakistan as one of its most promising markets. CCI is expected to invest in Pakistan as it looks to challenge PepsiCo's long-held dominance .
