Advent International Agrees To Buy Mediq For EUR775mn

News: Global private equity firm Advent International has decided to acquire Dutch pharmacy chain Mediq in a cash deal worth EUR775mn (US$1bn). Through the deal, Advent is seeking to expand in the healthcare distribution industry. Advent will offer EUR13.25 (US$17.1) per share for the company. The deal, which will be financed by Advent through debt and equity, has secured support from the management and supervisory boards of both the companies. Mediq, which owns 226 pharmacies in the Netherlands, is engaged in the sale of drugs, medical devices and related care services in 15 countries, including Poland, the US, Germany and Sweden.
