ACP To Decide On Corozal Terminal Construction

News: The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) is likely to take a decision on whether to proceed with the construction of a terminal at Corozal on the east bank of the Panama Canal, reports Seatrade Global. The ACP is currently reviewing the feasibility of constructing the 3-4mn twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) terminal in two phases of 1.5mn TEUs. The terminal will have access to the Panama Canal Railway, which would facilitate container movement to the Atlantic. The ACP will issue tenders for the construction and operation of the new terminal. Additionally, the authority is also considering seven ventures, such as logistics parks, ro-ro terminals, bunkering, and liquefied natural gas, water and a railroad yard for post-Panamax vessels, among others.
